NAWMA's Material Recovery Facility at Elizabeth West processes kerbside collected recyclable materials such as paper, cardboard, clean glass jars and bottles, food cans, milk and juice cartons, plastic containers and aluminium cans along with pre-sorted commercial and industrial waste.

NAWMA, in cooperation with its kerbside collection partner Cleanaway and processing contractor Regional Recyclers Pty Ltd, encourages recycling in local schools with provision of up to ten 240-litre recycling bins upon request. These bins are collected on the same day as the fortnightly recycling service in local areas.

Recyclable material is sorted and packaged for transportation to various markets in Australia and overseas.

In 2005-06, 19,040 tonnes of recyclables were received at the Materials Recovery Facility from the Town of Gawler and the Cities of Playford and Salisbury. An additional 2,303 tonnes were received from client Councils including Mallala, Clare/Gilbert Valley, Light Regional and Adelaide Hills.
