Give A Sheet for the Planet

NAWMA is partnering with Australian clean technology company BlockTexx to help residents from Salisbury, Playford and Gawler councils recycle their old, worn-out linens. All material collected on the day will be recycled through a chemical textile recycling operation which separates polyester from cotton. The process enables secondary raw materials to be recovered and reinjected back into applications in Australia (in this case recycled P.E.T. pellets used for injection moulding and cellulose currently used in hydro mulching), rather than being lost to landfill. Currently BlockTexx is the only company in Australia able to provide these circular outcomes for waste textile materials.

Two community collection events will be held on 5 November 2023, in Gawler and Para Hills and residents can register using the links below.

Only clean, worn out cotton and polyester (and polycotton blends) linen items listed below will be accepted for recycling.

  • sheets
  • pillowcases
  • quilt covers
  • towel
  • face cloths
  • tea towels
  • tablecloths

Please note, the following items will NOT be accepted at the event:

  • wool and acrylic items
  • waterproof items
  • heat resistant items
  • insert items such as quilts and pillows
  • clothing
