Festive Season Tips – Food Scraps

Over the Christmas and New Year period, there can be a lot of food that doesn’t get eaten. It’s important that it isn’t wasted. If you don’t already have somewhere to compost your food scraps, you can place them into your green-lid Food and Garden Organics (FOGO) bin along with your garden clippings.

You can place all types of food scraps into the FOGO bin, for example bread, meat, cheese, bones, plate scrapings as well as all vegetables and scraps from the chopping board. NAWMA will collect the contents of the FOGO bin and our partner Peats Soils will use their industrial scale composting facility to turn your food scraps into compost.

You can find more information about purchasing and using your green lid bin here.
