Environment Education Centre

A world class Environment Education Centre has been established at NAWMA’s Material Recovery Facility (MRF) at the corner of Peachey and Bellchamber Roads, Elizabeth West.

The centre features a large-scale viewing window, allowing people to view the Cleanaway trucks depositing loads of kerbside collected recyclable materials such as paper, cardboard, clean glass jars and bottles, food cans, milk and juice cartons, plastic containers and aluminium cans.

People can watch the recyclable material being sorted and packaged for transportation to various markets in Australia and overseas.

Educational facilities include:

• a video that can be zoomed onto any part of the recycling line;
• a vast story wall;
• display worm farms and compost bins; and
• recycled products, including furniture and carpet made from recycled plastic.

The centre provides comprehensive information on what is recycled, how it is recycled and why it is recycled. And you can watch it all happening.
